Location development
MASTER PLAN "VISION 2030"
In order to be able to pursue forward-looking urban development in times of a highly deficit municipal budget, it is more necessary than ever to prioritize, coordinate and transparently communicate measures. A strategy group was set up within the administration by the building and economic administration to achieve close networking between economic development, city marketing, city planning and the treasury, with the aim of drawing up a realistic and target-oriented master plan for the city of Idar-Oberstein.The master plan entitled "Vision 2030 - Idar-Oberstein, the gemstone of the national park region" was developed as the result of a process that also involved the Economic Advisory Council and all the heads of the city administration. Its aim is to achieve sustainable, future-proof and holistic development of the city of Idar-Oberstein, which will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the location in the long term.
The following elementary tasks were identified as essential for a successful development process that aims to achieve sustainable, future-proof and holistic development of the city of Idar-Oberstein and contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the location and the entire region.
1. profiling
The town of Idar-Oberstein needs a clear profile that is communicated to the outside world. A consistent focus and a sharpening of the profile of its uniqueness as a gemstone and jewelry town as well as a national park town are necessary in order to be perceived beyond the region.2. joining forces
Mastering the challenges for the present and future of the city must be seen as a joint task for the citizens, businesses, administration and local government of Idar-Oberstein, regardless of current problems, interests and political alignments.
The existing potential must be bundled and steered in a common direction.3. joint regional development
Idar-Oberstein also sees itself as part of the region and as a link between the Naheland region and the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. The profiling of the town should promote the development of our entire region. The aim is to achieve joint regional development without parochial thinking. The aim of the master plan is to ensure that Idar-Oberstein is perceived regionally and nationally as
THE MOST PRECIOUS STONE IN THE NATIONAL PARK REGION
and, by 2030 at the latest, has become a symbol of quality and standard through the cooperation of all forces.A priority list was drawn up to specify and implement this goal, in which the individual measures to be implemented are listed, assigned and given a time priority.
At its meeting on 23.11.2016, the City Council also unanimously decided to commit to the goals and priorities of Vision 2030 and to pursue them transparently in the form presented.- Master plan as pdf-file
